SARGE'S LITTLE BOOK OF HAIKU
Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry that when translated into English (as
closely as a poetry form can be), is only three lines long. It is further
shortened by only allowing five syllables in the first and last lines and
seven syllables in the center line for a grand total of seventeen syllables.
Most often, Haiku does not have a title.
Pit bull and giraffe;
The pit bull has the long neck...
Tightly in his teeth.
Let's talk politics;
Crime, corruption, greed, treason...
OK I'm done now.
A list of her faults
Ends before it gets started,
And fits in this poem.
These hilarious, politically insightful, heartwarming, haiku poems make it
clear why Sarge was the Slam Haiku Champion of the United States, August
'94 - August '95. This book is 160 pages with the cover art done
by Sarge's daughter, Brandy Star Lintecum.
